First up is one of my favourite PMC* artists:
Terry Kovalcik
A Tear For Icarus A beautiful silver locket |
After working for 30 years as an illustrator Terry found the joys of sculpting metal clay in 1999, when he was introduced to PMC* and was instantly hooked. Quickly, Guild Certification followed in 2000. For the first international PMC* show, Fusion in 2001, his Black Flame piece took second place. On his website (www.terrykovalcik.com) you can view plenty of photos of his work and read his Artist Statement which is full of inspirational quotes:
Bronze Thorn Subtle linked bracelet |
"Seeing these 3D forms come alive nourishes my creativity."
"wearable objects have a unique ability to capture the inspiration I see in the world around me"
“My jewelry reflects years
of telling visual stories with imagery and movement.”
BeJeweled A solid silver ring containing five cubic zirconia gemstones |
I hope you enjoyed my first artist profile for more information on Terry's work visit www.terrykovalcik.com, i am pleased to say Terry is thinking of writing a book and it could possibly be in the works (as reported by Making Jewelry).
see you soon! Soph, xxx
