In the future I'm going to do a weekly update on one of my favorite creative websites, www.shapeways.com, it opens up the incredible possibilities of 3D printing to all of us. 3D printing allows people to create mind blowing objects like mobius strip ball bearing runs (see 1) and Escher knots, inspired by the work of artist M C Escher (see 2).
These are firstly a pendant which I really love and can be printed in steel for £17.57 called "the one ring to rule the ball" by its designer.
Then secondly a sculpture which is a model of a woodcut picture made by M.C Escher in 1965 called 'Knots'.
1) a cool pendant! Design by "TerraCotta" the ball races freely around a loop, contained solidly within the single twisting wire. |
2) 3D printed in white, flexible plastic. design by "ShapeKays" |
So this is my introduction, in a week I will be back with a post on one of my favorite 3D printed jewelry pieces!
See you soon! Love Soph. xxx
